The Autistic Home Bases accommodate pupils, who are on the Autistic Spectrum. The teaching styles and classroom layout are specific to the needs of these pupils who have learning idiosyncrasies.

 


The particular teaching methods found to be effective are T.E.A.C.C.H. (Training and Education of Autistic and Communicative Handicapped Children), and P.E.C.S (Pictorial Exchange Communication System). We believe these two approaches work well together.                                                                                                                                     

     

 


Each pupil has his or her own educational programme and their own desk where they work independently. There are opportunities for the pupils to integrate with their peers in other classes in appropriate lessons.
